    How loud was this "snap"?

Cuz P0705 means an issue with the trans range sensor... which is right next to your front driveshaft. A SWAG would be a front driveshaft u-joint let go, and the driveshaft just broke the range switch. (You, uh, may wish to not shut the truck off if you're not at home, I have a funny feeling it might not restart...)

The snap wasn’t loud like if I was hitting a curb but it’s just stuck in 2wd, I was able to drive home, I also looked under and the drive shaft looks good and the transfer case looks good as well.

More accurately, how expensive did the 'snap' sound?

Agree with @fb40dash5 assessment. A good crawl under the truck is step one.

When you are in gear. Does the indicator on the dash show the correct position?

Anything that looks like a piece of a PRNDL switch hanging by some wires? Not 100% sure of where it sits on your truck and can't open up All Data ATM, but it could be that you actually broke the switch...

You've got a 705 code, the display is correct and the truck shifts... WTF?

Who knows, maybe you got the cable, or wiring harness in a bind from the snow.

Disconnect the battery for 3 mins.
This will clear the code. See if it comes back on.

Depending on the circumstances, you can’t switch to 4WD if you are in the wrong gear.

I vote, clear the code and see what happens.

Agree - clear the codes and see what happens, but this sounds like the makings of a good diagnostic case study.

    It’s worth a shot.
    You might get lucky.

If not, we can go from there and try to figure out the best means to diagnose this.

    A code Zero?
    Or no codes?

We can likely get to the cause of the 4x4 not working, but I never seen a code “0”.

Have you rolled around under the truck and looked at the transfer case actuator, etc?
