Fuel Filter Replacement now leak. (1st Gen)

just which filter did you get ??

I have had no problems with Toyota or Wix filters

 

If memory serves, this filter for the 3.4 v6 takes a flare nut fitting not a banjo. When I took my filter off and put it back on make sure you have a flare nut wrench the proper size and start it by hand so you don't strip the threads, snug up the fitting and start the truck, if it leaks tighten the nut until the leak stops with the truck running. That is what I did when my filter did that, when the leak stopped that is when I knew I applied enough torque without striping the threads or the nut. Remember use a flare nut wrench and not a regular wrench, a regular box wrench will strip the flare nut.

 

Flare fitting a tiny piece of grit can keep it from sealing.

Also damage to the flare .

Man this thread has given me some piece of mind. Tried this today, during a lunch break and had it swapped in 20 minutes or so. My leak was from the front side and I couldn't get it any tighter for the life of me. Swapped the old one back on and everything came together so easily. Maybe I just had everything lined up better the second time around. Gonna give it another shot in the near future to see if I can line it up better and get the new filter on.
