Help identify this part!

I was replacing a couple bolts in the air dam and this fell out from the front right of the truck…I have no idea what it is so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

Doesnt look expensive, i wouldnt worry about it.

 

It looks like some kind of expanding nut i think...has it been in the body shop?

 

Looks like a damaged flux capacitor.

mmmm. its kinda blurry in the pics...does it have an allen head bolt it it?
you mentioned you was replacing bolts in the air dam...was it loose or something missing?

Could it just be a random piece of road junk that got tossed up in there..?

Do you remember a recent, inexplicable, ‘strike’ noise while cruising down the road..?

 

Or maybe it's that one thing that goes on that other deal.

 

It could very well be that...

 

Have you had any work done to it recently? Has it been in the shop for any leaks? The part could be off of a piece of troubleshooting equipment. Perhaps a tech left it in there or couldn't find it?

 

It's a prop for a miniature outboard motor.

 

How big is it? I assume pretty small. I used google lens on my pixel phone and the all-knowing google says it is a tri-grip rivet:

Here is another image of a "marine pop rivet" that google found. Looks a lot like what you found assuming the tri part is plastic?. Not sure what it is doing in your truck... maybe road debris that got kicked up and lived in your fender or on top of the skid plate for a while until it fell out while you were working on it?
