Hello all- long time forum reader first time poster, for the best possible reason: I finally got a 4x4 Tacoma. 2012 Automatic 4 cyl.

First thing I’d like to do is get some new tires: It’s got stock 245 75 R16 highway tires. I live on a rocky dirt road and plan to do a lot of off road driving with it. I would super appreciate any advice/perspective on tires.

Top of my list are KO2’s and Goodyear Wranglers of some kind. I’m stuck on what size I should get- same size as my current tires or is it possible to upsize to 265 75 R16s? I’d like to get a lift at some point (Bilstein 5100s front and OME heavy duty rear is the idea) but that could be years out, so just trying to get a solid tire for now for the rocky terrain I’ll be driving through. Thanks in advance!

You will be fine with 265/75/16
The only thing you are doing is going with a wider tire.
Sure it will add weight, and it will slow you down a bit, but I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

I hate to ask, but is your truck a 4 Door?

Welcome to TW and congrats on your new truck. Check out the threads here https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/4-cylinder.51/

I suggest you post in there and get fellow 4 bangers to help. Lift should be fine, plenty of 4 bangers do it. A lot of folks will say 4 bangers can't handle larger heavier tires but again lot of folks do it. I have no experience so not sure. I know @TYetti has both and is running strong.
