The location of these connectors and black box are behind the kick panel on the driver side trucks a 07 single cab

Did you buy it from a smaller dealership? Did you finance it with them?

i saw lots of things like that when I was doing installs. They were gps trackers that dealers installed in case a customer quit paying. Made the repo a lot easier.

If this truck ever made its way to a dealer like that, it’s possible that’s what it is.

an aftermarket alarm would have SEVERAL wires coming out if.

Once I figured out what plug it was (IA1), I cheated.
I can not release details, but there may, or may not be, a comprehensive wiring database in the works.

Anyways, once I figure out the plug. I used a cheat sheet. Thanks @Dm93
It think it comes from the 20A EFI fuse.

If you don’t have power to the EFI fuse, the engine isn’t going to run.
I’m with @whatstcp, probably an alarm system.
Most of the 2.7L trucks didn’t come with an anti-theft system.

Would it hurt to remove it or just leave it be only reason for wanting to remove it is its quite bulky and the kick panel doesn’t sit how it’s supposed to bc the box is in the way and they screwed it into the floor.

They just twisted the 2 wires together and wrapped it up with electrical tape it’s not soldered or anything.

Yea I’d be able to fix it, i’m beginning to wonder if the blue wire isn’t part of the harness and they just added it since it’s a thicker gauge wire and the power wire for the box is thin and they used the thick wire to shove it into the connector. That little piece of blue wire in the picture is all there is i tried finding the other end of it because I assumed it was part of the harness and they just cut it in two but I didn‘t find anything

    I don’t know.
I’m not there to see where the other wires from the box go.
Is the box tapped into the wire?
Or is the box inline with the wire?

kind of need to know what exactly they did with the wire?
Worst case, put it back like they had it?

    Back-probe the blue wire.
Se if it has power on it.
Then pull the ABS fuse, I bet the power gets killed when you pull the fuse.

The diagrams I posted above show a blue wire to pin 1.
Pin 1 is the wire in your picture. I don’t think they added it.
That wire powers 2 relays and the fuel pump. It needs to be big.

The box just has 2 wires they sheet metal screwed the ground wire into part of the cab and the power wire is just twisted together with the blue wire and wrapped up with tape they didn’t use a wire nut or anything just twisted it together. It would be pretty easy to put it back like they had it lol

It sounds like they just tapped into the blue wire for power to the box.
If the blue wire was never cut in two, just undo the wire to the box and see what happens.

If it has 2 wires and one of them is grounded with a sheet metal screw, that means the other is 12v power

I stand by my original guess that it’s a cheapo gps tracker installed by either a previous dealer or possibly a parent giving the truck to their teen driver. Cut the power wire, tape it up, and pull the box out and toss it
