Finally found some peace and quiet- at a gun range!

I’d been considering a small parcel of BLM land in eastern Washington for a truck camping, get-away-from-it-all quickie.

The final approach entails an ass-jarring journey down the motheriest mother of all washboardy gravel roads (MOAWGR) I’ve ever encountered.

I get to the site I previously identified on Google Earth as the most promising, only to find that large boulders have been recently placed blocking access.

Undaunted, I proceed along the MOAWGR.

Mercifully, the ass-jarring only continues for another ½ mile until deliverance- an accessible, flat, isolated expanse of grasslands; that also happens to be a gun range:

    Cursory ground gleanings:

They shot the legs offa Ol’ Paint!:( The unidentified beast to the left had his head blown “clean off” (ala Dirty Harry).

The sliver sunset fell at just the right angle below the Taco striking spent semi-clear shotgun wads and clay bird fragments, begetting this art shot I titled “Wads Aglow” ............the muse was upon me.

Got down to 20 F degrees at night, howling coyotes, “billions and billions” of stars, and a mystery animal (bird?) periodically going “whoooop”:

The sun rises, the frost yields:
    ft7.jpg

Ponds and marshes to the east provided long choruses of red-wing blackbirds punctuated by geese honks.
Didn’t see a soul until mid-morning of the following day:

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Coming up on my first summer of having two kids. First we had just a dog, a 75 pound lab, so I yanked out the back seats and built him a platform back there. Then after our first was born I put in the driver's side 40% seat for his car seat, and left the passenger side 60% platform for the dog. Now I will have to put the other seat in for the second car seat.

Those of you with two kids and a dog, how do you it? Is it possible, or is the dog just going to have to stay with the in laws when we go camping? I do have a cap, but I don't like the idea of the dog back there, plus space is limited back there anyway. I guess I know the answer, but just hoping maybe someone smarter has any ideas.

    Dog for the points:
