Consider yourselves lucky if you are getting 20 plus mpg!
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD LB with Leer camper top. 2 inch lift ,32 inch BFG A/T tires, rocker sliders, full under skid plates including the rear differential skid plate. A trailer hitch skid plate. Lots of tools, etc.
    I am getting a average 12.1 mpg .
Live on a coffee farm ,in 4H everyday while on the farm (hillside).
All those extra weights that was added on really kills the mpg’s!

Besides the farm . My main purpose for the all that protection was to be able to go fishing and camping on the shoreline, traveling on lava trails and a few sandy spot. Most places a lift is not needed, but there will always be those few nasty spots along the way…. Most of our fishing spots are on lava cliff sides or lava ledges.
Ulua fishing call “Slide baiting” biggest I heard caught was 191lber on the island of Maui.
Ulua fishing rods ,13 foot lengths, Conventional fishing reels -4/0 with 300 yards of 80lb fishing lines ,200lb leader lines. Our casting leads with wire anchors 9 oz each.

Another words,, "It can be a tough damn job!" (Comes from a retired teacher of 30 years) When the day goes good...it's great. When not...it can be pretty shitty. I retired from an inner city High School. I always thought I should have kept a daily log of what went upside down. "Today the toilets in the student bathrooms overflowed", "Today the fire alarms kept going off", "Today the new Principal showed up and he/she is a real ass", "Today we were in lockdown and a kid had to shit in the trashcan". Stuff like that

Fuel mileage is entirely dependent on location (Elevation, Temps, Rain, Snow, Sun and wind), the driver, the traffic around you each time you drive, and the roads you have nearby, the type of pavement, asphalt vs grooved cement, hills and mountains vs flat areas, and even just the vehicle engine's specifics as to build, and break in, so it's going to be varying for every person, every vehicle, and in every location. This is really one thing, that no one has a good answer for, and complaining is just a pure waste of good oxygen.

My fuel mileage averages 16-17 MPG this time of year. If I was concerned about gas mileage, I wouldn’t have bought a truck. What makes it all worth it to me is when I take it off-road and it puts this huge smile on my face. Smiles per gallon.

This the thread for complaining about trivial things?

When I scan for antenna broadcast stations, my TV only picks up 56 channels. That's some bullshit. I should get at least 60!

(PS... If you dig into the testing protocol, the EPA highway mileage SOP calls for an averaged repeat run at 50 mph)

I've been able to match the EPA rating on every vehicle I've owned since they started posting them on the sticker. But to do it I had to drive in a manner that I didn't like. If I can come within 2 mpg of the EPA rating and drive the way I want to drive that's close enough.

I've been on some long, cross country road trips. Sometimes you just have to decide what is more important. When you're 1000 miles from home you can drive 65 and get 20 mpg, or drive 75 and get 17 mpg, but get home 2 hours sooner. Is it worth 9 more gallons of gas to save 2 hours?

6 mpg city, 10 mpg hwy from 1976

    I enjoy doing the same.

As long as I get 350+ miles from a full tank of gas until I have to refuel, I'm happy.

I don't wait until the tank is empty, btw...to fill up.

Filling up at half tank and seeing the actual total miles until the next fill up gives me a rough estimate.

My driving habits are granny like...but, I'm not a racer either.

Well, your real world MPG depends on your driving style, conditions, etc.

I usually get 18-20 mpg on my truck on the highway. 70 mph. Stock tires.

The correlation between temperature and mileage was a lot closer than I was expecting when I started keeping track of the data.

These trucks totally depend on terrain and driving habits. I get an average of 19 and I’ve reached 24 mpg on a road trip but drive it pretty lightly.
