We just purchased 100MW of battery storage. 1MW storage is the size of a 40’ connex container. We will be using that for peak load shaving. Using solar to charge the system is an added benefit.

Now since coal has been going away, natural gas generation is ramped up and has been taxing current systems. We are in talks with Kinder Morgan to build another gas line down from Wyoming for all the need in Colorado. They are reluctant to do it since Colorado is going for 80% fossil fuel reduction by 2050 (if not sooner).

So for the nuclear comment. It’s easy to just say “we need more nuclear power” (and I agree) but in reality it’s very difficult. For instance, most places west of the Mississippi has been in drought conditions for a while. To run a plant like this (a large 22-3200 MW) you use a lot of water per day (like close to a billion gallons). Next problem is permitting and usually nobody wants one of these power plants even close to their back yard. There have been accidents…

On both sides of the aisle here in the USA for sure. Dunno about Canada. I"m sure it's similar.

where was this outrage when the stakeholders in government were subsidizing the hell out of the fossil fuel industry for the last 100 years?

Or deploying the military to the middle east to protect oil investments?

Nobody blinks an eye at "big government" when it uses tax dollars to keep gasoline under a dollar a gallon. But as soon as they try to subsidize some alternative energy options everybody starts crying

Peak oil was in 1974, that was the high water mark for easy access to fossil fuels. The government has been helping to keep the oil industry in business ever since. It hasn't been a "free market" for a long time

Boomers are scared AF by change. They throw their hands up and say no, then are forced to try something new, decide that they like it and then act like they liked it all along.

I think solid state batteries will be a real game changer, maybe sometime in the next decade.

Nautique makes electric wake boats. I still prefer the oil/gas version. :D

Toyota could go out of business business tomorrow, I would not care.

I expect EV to gain in popularity, plateau, then come crashing down to extinction. Only to be replaced by ICE vehicles. It's a cycle.

Given the reliability and build quality track record over the last few generations of Toyota cars and trucks, I would be more inclined to say that the great company of Toyota has been ruined for at least 2 decades now. Mr. Akio Toyoda has been getting cheap on us for quite a while now, so I don't have much hope for the FNG who is taking over.

That being said, an entire lineup of vehicles which are all electric is a foolhardy move. Poor build quality and reliability or not.

That's actually a very interesting and neat profession. So much goes into that to ensure the overall health and posture of the animal. In fact, it's much more interesting than EV's!

I already own a cordless battery powered chainsaw , lawnmower and leaf blower , plus we build whole houses with mostly cordless tools , that tech has made a huge leap in the last 10 years

battery powered boat would be cool though
