So I was quoted 3.5k for this issue but found this on YouTube
    https://youtu.be/kvm6YexdfOk
Anyone have this issue and did it fix the problem?

    Timing chain cover*****

pretty typical on these engines. Best to have the cover taken off, cleaned and reseal the cover.

3400 makes sense for the 3.5

The 4.0 is stupid easy to fix, quote should top out at 10 hours and maybe 200$ in parts tops. So 2000$ max.

Also that isnt that bad of a leak to warrant repairs in my opinion. Usually there's oil dripping and it's on the belt when its time to perform the reseal.

Yeah thats where my 08 4.0 has had slow seepage from for a few years. I'm ignoring mine until it starts leaking for real or something goes wrong with my timing.
Depending on your mileage should you decide to get the leak fixed I would also get all new engine timing parts(chains, guides, tensioners, phasers) at the same time, labor should only be 1-2 hours more, couple hundred in additional parts though.

Quick question though, in the video it’s just a little square (timing belt tensioner cover). If taking it off like the video fix the problem or will I have to legit take off the whole timing belt cover? Yeah I figured it wasn’t alot but Toyota man lol.

I gotcha so best bet is to have the whole cover taken off and replace the gasket

No, it leaks from the mating point where the cylinder head, block, and timing cover meet.

Yup, it’s easy. I’m saying the quote feels like it was intended for 3.5 it’s stupid high.

Wow, $3,500 sounds like an engine rebuild. I wouldn't trust that shop to air up my tires...

My 06 with 183,000 has that same leak. I have known about it since 150,000 or so. I got very high quotes to fix it as well. Not much for parts and lots of expensive labor. Mine does not leak enough to drip on the drive way, so I am not fixing it yet. I clean up the area with some degreaser every oil change and monitor it.
