Our single cabs are obviously a lot lighter including the front end than a double cab v6 so I felt my bilstein 6112s raised the front a lot higher than a v6 dc (compared it to my buddies 3rd gen double cab v6 and he has the exact same suspension setup I do and mine was a lot higher in the front)

anyway with my go fast camper in the back it leveled it out and looked like it was squatting so I went with deaver stage 3 since I wanted more of a rake look I wrote more of an in depth comparison in the suspension section but here’s a before and after

Dude, we're almost twinsies lol. Glad to know that I am not the only one to dump way too much $$$ into a reg cab.

I'm running 5100's with OME 884 coils in the front and 5160's with Deaver stage 2 in the rear.

It is the Topo Toppers Badlander. They have only been around a couple of years. They are in Ventura.

these little single cabs are so badass, love them. I appreciate the rake. The levelled trucks are a dime a dozen and they all look the same, props on an awesome truck

I weighed the truck before and after. It is a bit over 400 pounds with all the options I got on it. I had them add interior lights, windows, fan, solar, heavy duty awning brackets on one side and L-Tracks on the other. I wanted a GFC for the weight savings and because it doesn't stick over the cab as much, but I am just too tall to be comfortable in a wedge. I'm 6'5" and can handle driving the little reg cab, but I need comfort when I sleep. I have been loving it. Just like the GFC, it makes setting up and breaking down camp so easy. I used to have a Snugtop on the back with a Topper EZLift Nomad tent and would sleep in that. I slept great, but after almost 2 years of that setup, I was so tired of having to unload every night and reload every morning. It sucked spending all that money on a new shell and only keeping it for 2 years. That is not counting the 2 different RTT setup's I had before using just the shell lol. This was my last setup:

How are you liking the GFC? How does the little reg cab feel with it on there? Did you get the Deavers before or after you got it? I got mine after I got my shell and put a 180 pound hard RTT on top. The first drive after putting the tent up top I hated the way the truck felt. It was just too much for the little truck. I parked the truck and waited two months to get the Deaver's and 5160's. Then I took one trip with that setup and hated it!!! That tent just felt like a pendulum up there. Our little reg cabs are just too small for something like that.

i actually really wanted a vagabond since like your topo you can get side windows roof fan etc but I heard too many horror stories of vagabond and their ghosting of customers etc it got so bad tacomaworld closed their thread

I really like my gfc, I like that it’s light weight and the integrated tent/camper where you can stand up in it (just like the other integrated campers in the market)

I wish they had more options such as side windows and a roof fan which I don’t think is asking for too much (I would say it’s their biggest con)

We are pretty limited with our little gutless wonders. I really wanted a Project M, mostly because of all the options and I like the shelf that is on both sides. Built in seating!!! I decided against it because of the profile of it. It has way more aerodynamic drag than the GFC or Topo. My truck feels great on the trail and it still pretty capable, but on the highway, she is a dog, even with 5.29's. I'm that guy doing 65 in the slow lane. Sometimes less if it is steep hill lol.

what’s your mpg I get about 16.5 after the gfc when I was stock I was getting a little over 20
Once I put in the lift and the 10 ply tyres it went to about 18

she does fine on flat roads but ya I’m in 3rd gear on most hills on the freeway I did Imogene pass in 1st gear lol

have you seen the guy on Reddit with a regular cab and he has a kimbo camper!!!

@IEsurfer nice looking truck! Did you gain more than 2" going with the Deaver Stage 3? I have an AT Habitat and looking to go Deaver stage 3 as well but concerned about getting too much lift since I am under the 700lbs.

thank you I kinda screwed up and should have taken before and after measurements but idiot me got too excited. I’m still waiting for it to settle but I’d say it’s a smidge over 2 inches (that’s what she said)

The gas mileage, damn! You just made me do some math that I have been dreading lol. I track every tank of gas, in the fuelio app. I was at almost 18MPG before the Topo. I just calculated it since I put it on, 14.8! If it was just around town and highway, it would be closer to 16.5ish. I've had a couple of tanks a bit over 17 on the highway with no headwinds. Mine gets dragged down a lot because I only use this truck for my wheeling and camping trips. I try and get out once or twice a month and cover 100-200 miles of trails each trip. I'll be heading to AZ in a few days and will be covering 160 miles of trails. I get between 10-12MPG while on the trail. It all depends on how much time is spent in 4lo. I'm running 10ply 33 inch (255/85R16) pizza cutters. I calibrated my ScanGauge 2 with my GPS, so I can get accurate mileage with the bigger tires. There is also a solar panel and fan on top of my topper that helps me get bad gas mileage. I don't really feel it around town, but the highway is a different story. The automatic makes it ever worse. OD is only for flat land. On hills and in a strong headwind, it is all about third gear. Sometimes 2nd going up a really steep hill. My 2nd gear is like your 3rd. The gear ratios in the auto are almost the same the manuals 2-5 ratios. That really sucks on the trail, when you have to hit 1st gear, I have to hit 4lo, just because I am out of power and don't feel like overheating my tranny. I wish I had a lower 1st gear. The 3rd gen 4 banger gets the 6 speed with a much better spread of gear ratios. Have you weighed your truck? I'm right at 5k with me in it and fully packed for a trip. My rear bumper adds a lot of weight with the swing out. I've been running two spare tires, one on the swing out and one under the truck. I've been thinking about ditching the one under the truck to shed some weight.

I want to say they’re at the top clips (driver side adjusted for the lean) if I recall bilstein says that’s about a 2.5 inch lift but I feel like it’s a little bit higher (on stock 650 pound bilstein springs)

How is the GFC holding up on the truck? I also have a single cab and am in the market for a GFC. Just a little concerned about weight and MPG, but I don't think it weighs much more than my truck shell and roof rack now anyways

Pretty good like you I had an ARE shell on it the gfc doesn’t weigh much more although I took about a 1.5 mpg loss with the gfc
