are any of the panels easily removable? i'm more curious about the rear panel. could i take it off and put bikes over my tailgate? or are they pretty permanent?

is there spare between the panels and the support bars? like enough space to clamp something on there?

thanks for the review. It looks great. I wonder if it was slide back half an inch or so would it seal up the tailgate better and allow the door to open without dropping gate?

I’m not sure but I can take a measurement for you once I’m done with work.

You can remove the panels, they slide out but you have to unscrew the little cover plates on the end. Probably isn’t too difficult to do.

And I am pretty sure there is enough space to clamp a mount around the bars. I’m planning on adding outdoor carpet to the inside of the panels so there is space for that and I know those with the camper mount things to them.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it can move back at all, due to the locking mechanism.

Thanks! Could you also measure the width of the topper at the roof? I'd like to find an RTT that matches.

    Much appreciated.

Maybe I wasn't clear, but slide the whole topper rearwards half an inch.

Disregard my request - GFC got me the measurements.

    Topper height: 21" from bedrail
Topper width: 52" across the roof

Now to find a matching width RTT that's also 6" tall or less and I'll be in business. Hoping to pull the trigger before the sales ends on Saturday...

Thinking about purchasing the topper as well. I have a rack and rtt, but I feel with the topper you can get best of both. Can find a clamshell tent to use when moving locations camping, security for items in the bed, stays clean and can just use floor tent and remove clamshell when have a set location for camping.

    what’s the sell?

Just pulled the trigger on a GFC topper. After searching for wedge RTTs that are 52" across, the closest I can find is GFC's own Platform RTT at 53".

I think that'll work. I'll just bend some metal plates about 4" x 3" accounting for the .5" of difference on each side and drill holes in them to line up with the t-tracks and bolt the topper and RTT together.

Total height above bed rail should be right where I need it at 27" (21" topper and 6" RTT), giving me the look, security and function (other than the passthru floor, which I don't care about) of a GFC with less wasted space above the cab. Might need to shave the tip of the shark fin, which I'm fine with.

Another benefit is lead times on toppers are 4 weeks sooner than the camper.

That sounds awesome! Post pics when you get it done. I bet it will look good.

Im toying with the idea of fabricating some brackets to mount my Superlite to my topper for that same flush appearance.

So it ended up taking a bit more work to get mine completely sealed up from the water. Glad the rains gave me a good opportunity to get it dialed. I ended up having to use a lot more RTV than I expected in the front corners in the cab, both inside and outside the topper. I also got a roll of butyl sealing tape and put that over the RTV to clean it up a bit. There were also large gaps at the corners of the back hatch. I rolled up some butyl tape and formed it to the gap and closed the hatch, pressing it on the butyl to make a nice impression. No water issues since. It's supposed to rain here in SD again Sunday so hopefully it's now 100% sealed.

yes i did. i'll have to see what water is getting in but it's a litttle tough when there was snow in the back and the roads were wet today. i have some seals for the corners and tailgate. hopefully it stays dry down there since that where i'm headed for few weeks.

I wished they had an option to have side slider windows for those who truck camp in long beds.

I love their topper but man I wish their camper topper was a full pop up and not a wedge. Couple of other options but I like their topper setup the best from what I’ve seen so far.

I was in that full pop up camp as well, until I spent nights in our Alucab (wedge) tent. Surprisingly plenty of room in the wedge. The ol lady (5’) can stand up at the peak of the wedge. If it’s windy, we position the truck so the low side of the wedge is pointing towards the eye of the wind and it seems to help.

Just got my Topper installed yesterday. Fit and finish is excellent. Really happy with it.

Next step is to flush mount the GFC Platform RTT on it this weekend. Gotta remove the OEM rack and shave just a hair off the shark fin first.

    @greymachine

Nice rig. Are there specific mounts to install the gfc rtt? For sone reason I thought the rtt is a bit wider?
