New Tacoma owner here. This is going to be a long post so bear with me. Bought a fully loaded Off Road on October 22nd. Over a month goes by and with a nearly full tank of fuel, the fuel gauge reads 1/4 tank and distance to empty is displaying 79 miles to empty. Also outside air temp is reading negative 12 degrees and its actually 50 degrees outside. Note, I only have 900 miles or so on the truck. Then the check engine light comes on the next day. I've been a dealership technician for over 20 years, not for Toyota though. I scanned it for codes and found a code for fuel level sensor input too high. I clear it and code doesn't come back till the next day and the fuel level and distance to empty and the outside air temp are all still acting up. Also I am in California and we just had a pretty good storm and I noticed a line of condensation on the bottom of the windshield right above the dash inside the truck. So I drop off the truck at the dealership on December 5th. 2 days go by and dealer calls me and says they found no water leak and they checked the fuel sender unit by dropping the fuel tank and the sending unit checked good. Then they said they swapped out the combination meter with a known good meter and everything checked good. So they put the original combo meter back on and everything is working normally. The dealership let me take the truck and said if it acts up again, bring it back. When picking up the truck, I asked for any paperwork and they said they will leave the work order open just in case it acts up again. Not even a week goes by and everything starts acting up again plus the battery is dead. Had to jump start the battery and back to the dealer it goes on December 12th. So a week goes by and I had to call them myself to find out the status of the truck. They said that they will order a combination meter. Another week goes by and I call them again and they said that the part was ordered and it never came in. Luckily they put me in a rental but Christmas and New Years comes and goes. I call and they said that they're having trouble ordering the part. Really!? I thought you ordered the part already! The dealer says that Toyota has updated their part system and NOW they can look up parts for a 2023 Tacoma. So now they ordered the combination meter. They said it will be 2 to 3 weeks for it to come in. So I wait. 3 weeks and they said that no part yet and no ETA. So they called me they other day and said my truck will be ready but they just want to drive it for 50 miles to make sure everything is ok. Then the next day they said it won't be ready yet because Toyota FTS wants them to check a few more things. So they do more checks the next day and they called me today and said that after doing some checks, they found that the carpet is wet. Note: Over the holidays, we had a bunch of major storms out here and the truck was parked outside in their lot. They also said that there are some components that could've gotten wet causing all the electrical issues. So looks like the truck will be at the dealer even longer! I'm about to make a 3rd payment on my truck and they almost have my truck in their possession longer then I had the truck in MY possession. This is so frustrating and don't know what to do anymore. I have Toyota Brand Engagement involved but obviously that hasn't helped at all. If they have to pull the dash, I don't want the truck anymore. But I want to keep the truck but at this point, I'm ready for another Tacoma. Has anybody experienced something like this and has anyone here have Toyota buy back their truck?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's in the shop more than 30 days, you can lawfully consider the vehicle a lemon.

Yes, I know. Already got them involved last week. I’m waiting for the attorney to get back to me. I’ll probably talk to them on Monday.

Best wishes for a great outcome.

For me that outcome would be the trucks twin at no cost. Toyota can eat this one.

Friendly tip. Folks will be more likely to read your long posts, when you need to write one, if you'll use paragraphs. ;)
