Hello CBI, I'm having a heck of a time trying to install the 1st gen driver side antenna mount. The area of the mount that curves up to wrap around the hood interferes with the hood a good 1/4"+ from letting me get it closer to the bolt holes.

Second, there isn't a relief hole for this good latch thing? So even if it did line up wouldn't it interfere? Maybe I got a mount for a different model truck?

Right. It's not lining up. The pic is to show there isn't a hole relief for the latch type protrusion.

The bracket itself is not letting the holes line up, it interferes with the hood.

From their website - very different

I'm not new to modding, this bracket is far from fitting, looks like it's for a new gen taco or 4runner maybe.

I ordered joint pills on Amazon once and got energy pills in the mail. Happens to the best of companies.

Ragi seems to only make tailgate antenna mounts. Did you use a ditch light mount?

Man I got everything wired up and ready to go, this is a bummer.

They definitely made some ditch light brackets at one point

Their ditch lights look the same as the antenna mount, so for about $10 more one would get both sides... I have a snorkel so I'm not much interested with a passenger side... I just want to install my antenna already lol.

You can run cbi with a snorkel and get a bracket that goes off the side of your ditch light. That's what I did for both my antennas

Hot damn, well count me in for both then cause even though my ham is mars modded it would be nice to have some tuned antenna options.

Oh jebus, so I RTFM'ed and unlike every other brand/make/model of ditch light bracket for x,y,z truckes from the hours of ham/gmrs radio youtube install vids I've watched, CBI's doesn't bolt onto the hood portion of the bracket. You remove the fender and also trim the windshield plastic liner/cawl and bolt on the body side of the hood bracket. Wish I knew about the trimming part before buying seeing there are bolt-on alternatives. Wallet might take the hit and I'll still go Rago- I can't return this CBI as I already bored out the hole for an NMO mount.

Flip side I've never liked ditch lights (I've never done a trail at a place and time that needed them) and in SoCal its so friggen played out. I do like how low profile the CBI is- simple one bracket on one side with my low-pro antenna- not tons of stuff stacked on each-other. If I go rago ditch light brackets they are not conducive to an NMO mount even bored out, would have to also get the additional brackets, and then make a cluster of lights and sh*t. Younger me would be 'more the merrier' but I'm at a more practical point now, I just need the antenna mounted.

Taking off the fender wasn't cooperating so I did what seemed impossible and installed with the fender just loosened some.

I like how far to the side it is, the antenna isn't in my view at all when driving.

Ran a ground wire for the nmo mount and tested hitting a repeater about 60 miles away with success.
