I’m assuming the collision avoidance sensor is in the grill, and the obvious one to “keep clean”? Does the owners manual tell the owner about these things like keeping sensors clean and describing where they are? I don’t want to see the dealer any more than necessary, especially for something you can do yourself.

Absolutely this. Any electrical work I've done, that was the first thing I did. I also avoided tapping in to any OEM wiring. I used a separate fuse box for radios, extra USB ports, other accessories. I'm also paranoid about setting off airbags, so that's another reason I disconnected the battery when removing dash panels.

Behind the Toyota emblem. Keep the emblem clean - difficult on the freeway with ice and snow. But it may be better driving without adaptive cruise control in those conditions...

I keep that sensor and the camera in the windshield as clear as possible in bad weather. And the back up camera too.

That's the auto brights. You can turn that off by pushing the button to the left of the steering wheel.

I'm pretty happy with TSS and CA. TSS does an extremely good job of covering the blind spots when reversing out of a boxed-in parking space (for both pedestrians and vehicles). In two years, I've only had CA complain twice (the loud 3 beeps -- but never deep into it enough to have it auto-brake).

Adaptive cruise control works pretty well. It has 3 distance settings. #3 gives you about a 3 second trail. #2, two seconds. It defaults to 3 when ACC is activated, and I immediately punch the steering wheel button to the two second setting. At 3 seconds, there is a constant parade of assholes who think that's enough space to squeeze in ahead of me. I only use it on the freeway (58 mile commute each way, 65MPH).

Auto headlight activation / dimming sucks. I drive through a few tunnels and have it turned-up to the highest sensitivity. Lights still come on too late for my taste, so I just manually do it.

I wish you were correct, but I rarely use auto bright. When my headlights dim, it is on low beam, it’s almost like the cruise is drawing a huge amount of energy- like more than an a/c compressor kicking on.
