Not sure what the climate is right now on car sales, but trying to get some input from the experts on how to price my Tacoma. I'm not trying to cash in on Covid top dollar prices either.

    Here are the specs:

    2010 trd sport 4x4 dclb
    176k miles clean title
zero rust (texas truck and then so cal)
    2'' lift with bilsteins/aal
    bolt on sliders
    old ko2'
is 17 too high now that prices have cooled off?

$17 sound like you're being nice*

*assuming nothing is wrong with the truck, there are any issues looming with maintenance (leaking steering rack, oil burning, coolant leaking, suspension worn out).

You say old ko2's, so assuming a new set will be needed, that's another $1000+ the buyer will need to drop on tires.

To be honest, I'm a land cruiser guy. I actually sold my land cruiser to try a Tacoma as a better camp setup. And yes, its much better to camp in, but I think I'm going back to a land cruiser.

what's wrong with listing it for that right now to feel out the market
if the entire market refuses to buy (feedback) then you gradually lower it bit by bit until it sells

17 is low...and it also depends on the market you live in. Up here you could get 23-25 easy....

I bought almost that exact same truck in 2019 for $16k with 190k mi, when prices had come up but not before they skyrocketed. Based on my year of searching high and low this was a fair price. Not a deal and not a price gouge. I was lucky to get it quickly as there were other buyers lined up and ultimately it sold in just a matter of a couple days.

I'd say $17k will give you a pretty quick sale. Listing at $20k would slow that down so you have to deal with less tire kickers but you may have to lower the price. It's hard to tell what trucks are selling for vs what they're listed at but my experience has been that the 05-10 trucks are significantly less valuable than the 12-15 trucks. Rarely do I see the early models listed over $20k while the 2.5 gen trucks are pretty much all listed for over $20k, sometimes over $30k.

Of course, all of this depends on condition and that can't fully be vetted by just looking at pics. That said, yours does look to be in VERY good condition. I wouldn't let it go cheap and I'd try to make sure it goes to someone who will appreciate it and treat it well.

If you don't already have a Carfax report shoot me a message and I'll get one for ya.

SOunds like a good starting point, people are always going to haggle. You could list it for $100 and people will try to beat you down to $40 and a Snickers bar.

I'd say look too for comparables on Craigslist in your area. Yeah those aren't sold but gives you an idea of your competition. My motto is "ask a little more than others and write a little better ad"

Sounds about right though I'd start 22.5 and see what it brings, maybe he'll get that or darn close. Feel it out.

I listened to my wife in pricing her old Rav4 instead of my gut and feel like we could have gotten more than we did, though a 15 yr old vehicle with 170K and not looking the greatest is different than this example

I'm going through the same process with my 2013. I searched autotrader, cargurus, and cars dot com, for 2012-2015 double cabs regardless of mileage, within 500 miles. You dont know how long they've been listed, but gives you an idea of what lower and higher mileage options are going for. Thats your competition. I'm planning on averaging anything within 7k miles either side of mine, and asking $1000 less.
