Ive been using Supertech and now Kirkland in 2-Accords, 1-CRV, 1-Corolla and my Taco since the very first oil change. Now Im adding another Corolla and a Sentra to the mix. The Accords been running it the longest. Under the valve cover the valve train is spotless. Ive done a lot of reading on the topic. For me me its a great product. Multiple oil changes with Mobil1 becomes quite expensive. Between that and everything else we pay for along with college tuition, its a no brainer for me.

When it gets close to oil change time I go to local hardware store to see what's on sale. If specs on container match owners manual then all is good! Generally follow manufacturers change interval and run vehicles for many years until they rust out or want a change. Only engine oil consumption problem i had was with a low mileage Corolla that had a piston ring sealing problem that year. Coincidently it was the only vehicle i ever owned that had oil changes performed by dealer. (they were free)

Been running Kirkland 0W20 in all three of our vehicles for many years. No issues at all and can’t beat the price, esp when you can find it on sale.

Used to be $24.99 now up to $38.99 when not on sale

The American ones vary based on the state liquor laws. Until recently the Colorado ones didn’t either but would contract a liquor store on premises.

Not all American ones sell Kirkland alcohol products. Some are franchises attached to Costco stores. A couple near me have converted to company owned, so that might be changing.

I know nothing about how alcohol sales work in Canada. In the US each state sets it's own laws. In NH only state owned stores can sell hard liquor.

Kirkland is made by Warren Distribution and is similar to Amazon Basics and Supertech, both perfectly acceptable oils. They’re middle of the pack, roughly equivalent to other mainstream full synthetics like Pennzoil (not Ultra Platinum), Valvoline, Castrol, etc.

It’s fine oil. I wouldn’t personally go more than 6k on it though.

I picked up a case of Kirkland oil since it was $10 cheaper than the Mobil one.

I thought about cheaping out on oil, spent all yesterday binging project farm and other vids. Then I realized I'm putting in ~$1500 in gas to drive 5k miles with my heavy beast in CA. I can spend to get good oil every time. Saving $30 = 1.8% cost savings every 5k miles? Not worth it to me given I want to own my truck for 20+ years. Toyota OEM seemed to have the best additive package for reducing long term wear (10x the amount of moly average, has + 10.4 TBN over the 7.4 TBN of kirkland + other crap) so that's what I'm using now.

If I were planning on trading it in after a few years I would go with a cheaper oil for sure. Kirkland is good cheap oil as proven by Project Farm and others.

Don’t assume everyone drives 30k+ a year. Many tacomas continue on through 20 years.

I’m sure I’m not the first to consider this, but I’ve thought about using the 5qt. container of Kirkland and then finishing off the rest of the fill with Mobil-1 using the 1qt containers. Is there any school of thought on blending different oil brands?

What province are you in? One run by Mormons? They've been selling booze out in Alberta and Saskatchewan for years.

PS: I love Mormons and that was not a bash. I rented out a basement suite from a Mormon couple and they were some of the nicest people I've head the pleasure of knowing. But they didn't like booze.

What? Are you talking about Costco only selling Kirkland? My Costco sells M1 and Kirkland.

Weird. There must be a difference between the Kirkland TP in the USA vs Canada.

Up here it's considered a premium product good for the finest of asses.
