This is very nice. Not that I plan to do my own maintenance, but I can use it as a reference for service intervals without having to dig into the manual.

Definitely going to print it out.

    Awesome work! Thanks!
Could you please add the quantities of the fluids needed?

I chose to leave them off because other than oil change, xfer case, and front diff, the quantities can fluctuate based on number of drain and fills or other factors. However, exact quantities are in the videos with deeper explanations that don’t really fit on the chart. Thanks for the words!

Off hand anyone have an idea of how much the front and rear differential fluid change goes for? I hardly ever use 4WD, so I don't know if I really need to do the front differential. Also, the transfer case fluid change price?

I should probably ask the labor time since different dealers in different parts of the country will have different rates per hour.

If memory serves me you should plan to pay between $250 and $300 for both diffs to be done (parts and labor) / approx $125-150 a each. You can DIY both for approximately $70 total depending on fluid cost at the time. It’s about the easiest task there is but be wary of how tight the front diff drain plug is if you choose to DIY. I stripped mine even after all precautions being taken. It’s a pretty normal thing. My front diff video will cover a better front drain plug to use as well.

Transfer case is equally as easy and if using OEM fluid can be done for $50-80 depending on fluid cost at the time. Half that or less if you use an alternative fluid which I won’t speak on. A dealer should charge ballpark of $150+ for transfer case id assume but not be surprised if they want $200+.

Both my local dealerships put conventional 75w - 90 in transfer case and diffs just to maximize their profit margins. Cheap bastards.

This is amazing! Definitely will be printing one out for the truck. Can't wait to see what the 100k+ map will look like!

Thanks. I don't have the equipment or a garage to do my own maintenance, so the Tacoma still goes to the dealer. After 100K I might switch routine stuff to a garage near me.

I'm pretty sure my dealer uses the Tacoma specified fluids, filters, and intervals, but it's nice to have a reference.

They have a new Service Manager and I'm not totally sure about him. Last time I was there I had the transmission flush since there was about 65K on the truck. That was fine, but then he showed me three sheared off bolts on the front skid plate. He didn't have an answer when I asked how that could happen. I agreed to pay the hour labor rate, but I knew how it happened. I ended up calling his boss and having a chat. As a result I have an hour's labor credited to me.

So, as in "Meet the Parents" he's a bit outside of my "Circle of Trust."

Which is why I like having this handy reference.

That right there is enough to make me not go back. I know there are a lot of honest mechanics out there, and dealerships tend to be dare I say, a bit more honest in the maintenance realm even… but these routine works are for the most part very simple. The most basic of tools gets the job done and I do all my work outside in my driveway. That’s just my thoughts. I’ll never knock anyone with money for having someone else do it either, that drives our economy! Best wishes - Tyler
