Hey guys. Just bought a 2020 Tacoma TRD OR a few weeks ago, love the car and happy to be a part of the forum. This is my first post and I know this topic has been covered a lot on here so sorry if these questions have already been answered somewhere. Want to ask you folks questions instead of Car Toys or Crutchfield as I still don't trust those guys.

The car came with the "premium" JBL audio package. I want to replace the door speakers and the tweeters in the dash with some JL speakers from Crutchfield, keeping the stock amp should be fine. I am not looking to go louder, just crisp and cleaner for my long commutes to work and I loved my old JLs. See the attached links to the speakers I am looking at.

    JL 6x9 - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699045/JL-Audio-C1-690x.html
    JL 6.5 inch - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699042/JL-Audio-C1-650x.html
    ONE of these:
    *JL Tweeters - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699049/JL-Audio-C1-100ct.html
    OR
    *JL 3.5 mid range speakers - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136C2350X/JL-Audio-C2-350x.html?tp=96

    Questions I have:
-Has anyone upgraded this system with JL speakers before? If so how do they sound with the stock amp if you didn't replace it?
-Is it worth upgrading the speakers if I don't upgrade the amp? I don't mind upgrading the amp too if it makes a big difference but would most likely need help.
-I saw someone saying that putting in a 3.5 inch speaker in the dash instead of tweeters is a great move. How big of a difference would the 3.5s be vs the tweeters? Would mid range speakers sound better than tweeters? If I did the 3.5 inch, would I need to adjust any settings on the stock amp (if you can) or should I be able to just plug in after adjusting the bracket/grill?
-I assume the the 6x9s and 6.5s just plug in and play but want to confirm?

I am a total beginner in electronical wiring (obviously with my simple questions) and I don't want to blow anything. My first car was a 2003 jaguar and the electrical issues drove me insane, not looking to go back. I did install the N2 remote start ignition last weekend and I would like another project. Any insight would be great if you guys could provide. Thank you and excited to be here!

The oem jbl system is a 2 ohm system. The speakers that have listed are a 4 ohm speaker. From all info I have read here and other places the stock ( oem jbl) will not support any speaker over a 2 ohm to 2.5 ohm speaker without upgrading amp. JBL makes a better quality speaker that works great GX series which is 2.3 ohm. Hothing is plug and play but they due have adapters for them. Hope this helps.

I agree with the above. The dash speakers are mid and highs, the front doors are woofer frequency only, so no mid or highs, and the rear doors are 3-way.

You can find adaptors in my post here, but they're for the JBL 2 ohms

List to RyanDCLB... My info is coming from his post, mainly and a few others. He knows a whole lot more than me on this system.
