The train is dragging a wheel down the middle of the ties this week for sure.

A couple managers told the dev team the other day that they need to just work harder and work nights and weekends because they're 'not completing the story points they committed to'.

I was thinking about polishing up my resume after hearing that, and I'm sure they were too.

Yeah its bad. Not enough people, too much work, and time consuming red tape that adds no value.

I just had a call with a customer where I was trying to talk them through an old version and i had to bite my tongue to keep from saying they should just shelve the product and come back in a year or two. Like, fundamentally it all works, but the UI is so buggy and broken and slow that any meeting is like pulling teeth. sigh.

Day two of cancelled work from this winter storm. Jeep club is out in full force causing 90% mayhem and suffering and maybe 10% good since some of them are driving healthcare workers to the hospital.

 

you just know that's making their egos so huge lol. "See honey I told you we needed this Jeep and all these mods, I TOLD YU DEB GOBBLESS"

taking essential workers to their jobs though is pretty cool, no joke about that

Work having a normal one. In a cross team meeting where we've been begging them to fix our build process for a year.

OK I'll just go back to suffering in silence because y'all literally told me to quit bitching unless I had a solution. It's not even my teams job lmao

 

They're basically admitting they don't know how to fix it. Ask them for some budget to hire a consultant

 

basically all we have to go on is that there's a blog post from another company saying they do the thing. The problem is they don't say _how_ it's implemented. It's been a year and our partner team hasn't come up with a solution for us and it's crazy making for me.

At least 1/3-1/2 of my time spent doing dev is wasted on having to do cascading merges and builds. I asked them if they had an external contact they could use to get guidance on because not having a solution for a year is astonishing.

They told us to have some patience because they probably can't even look into it til later in the year lmao

 

1 year retro: "yeah shit is fucked up no we don't have a solution. We appreciate your patience"
