Got mine back a few weeks ago. They fixed and re-cleared all doors, both front fenders and rear driver's quarter panel. Dealer was happy to do the work so they went over it really closely and picked at areas they knew were issues. They found an area I missed inside the gas filler door. It took a few weeks for the dealer to hear back from Toyota but they fixed it without issues. Dealer said if other issues pop up in future, having this already done with help in getting it fixed again. Overall as happy as I could be considering the issues existed in the first place. They replaced the fender flares and door vinyl.

The person at corporate took my complaint and asked me to go to my local dealer for them to take photos and get a quote from a shop of their choice.

The claim was denied, of course.

I'm also curious. I have a 2023 and it's been renamed as "Ice Cap" but same paint code.

One fellow TW member posted that they apparently resolved this issue in 2020. I have a 2020 and may or may not have this issue. Time will tell. However no one so far has reported any Texas produced trucks. The majority have been 2016 & 2017's out of one of the Mexico plants. A few 2018's have had issues reported as well. Maybe one 2019 if I remember correctly.

Did the 65K oil change yesterday and washed it afterwards. Found paint peeling off around the rear and side edges of the hood. Was hoping I'd be spared from the infamous problem but looks like that's not the case. Keeping a close eye for anything else that starts, aside from a bunch of rock chips from the ridiculously thin paint on these trucks. Made in Mexico May of 2019.

First 2019 I’ve seen have this issue. Seems like it takes about 5 years for the problem to show up so you’re ahead of the game (in a bad way )

Just picked up a 2023 in “Ice Cap” and was not aware of this issue. FML. I love the way the white contrasts with the black features but now am unsure if I just made the biggest mistake of my life lol. Going to apply power lock and Collinite wax ASAP if that even does anything since it sounds like these issues are unavoidable even if you do take good care of your truck…

Maybe wrap it? As far as I've heard it's a production issue, so unavoidable.

You'd think it would be solved by now, considering they've had this issue since 2008

Problem is this issue doesn’t usually pop up until at Larsen 3 years in. It was originally “corrected in 2018” but now we’re seeing 2019s with the same issue start to pop up. So likely won’t be until next year that we can truly determine if 2020 fixed the issue.

edit: that being said I’m driving a 2017 DD with 100k+ miles always parked outside that has not had a paint issues yet (knock on wood), so it’s all a crapshoot.

edit edit: should mentioned that mine is a Texas build as well.

I have a '17 with 65k miles, definitely haven't taken the best care of my paint with the northeastern winters we get, and VIN starts with a 5. No issues with my paint at this point, but figured I'd throw my info into the mix since it supports the Mexico vs Texas plant theory.

More flaking yesterday, you can see the cracking where it is going to continue towards the top of the photo
