I've got an issue that started today (02/20/2021) or possibly last night (02/19/2021) where on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma won't fully power off. Upon turning the truck off and getting out of the vehicle. The truck starts to beep saying "Key Fob Not Detected" even though I'm not in the truck at all. After about 10 seconds, the radio/clock/head unit all turn back on and won't turn off. The key fob will no longer lock or unlock the doors either. I just had my batteries replaced in my key fob as well as my battery checked at autozone. If anyone has ANY suggestions please let me know.

What’s happening is your truck is going back into accessory mode once you turn it off.

Do you have any aftermarket accessories on the vehicle that can cause this?

this happened to a few other people and each one was caused by different things. It could be the transmission, push button, battery, key fob, etc.

    take it into the dealership

its probably an issue with the push button start

thanks for the info, hopefully they can get it checked out.
i just tried to lock the door by "squeezing" the ridges on the drive side door handle and it said on the dash "turn power off" so there is no telling what it could be lol

someone just mentioned on my facebook group that it could be an issue with the wires either shorting or not being grounded properly...

Definitely sounds like a start button issue. I'd disconnect the battery over night and reconnect in the morning. Otherwise it needs to be diagnosed properly.

This happened to me after I got my windows tinted. There’s a master power switch in the driver side door to detect the smart key. It likely got wet during the tint causing it to act up. I disconnected the battery and threw a dehumidifier into the truck over night, and that took care of the problem.

Edit: Another guy on here who said he had this problem said his was caused by too many fuse taps. If you search “Tacoma won’t turn off” and some similar searches, there are a couple of threads on here about this, but not a ton of answers.

Mine ended up being the auto turn on switch on my amp. Had accidentally flipped it from 12v to DC and was causing the whole issue

Check that 12v to DC switch on amp. If switched to DC it will continue to draw power after you turn truck off leaving it in accessory mode. Switch back to 12v. This solved my problem

I had an issue like this once. I had my GoPro plugged in and charging via the cig lighter. For some reason, it was like back feeding and giving me those messages.

Hi, did anyone managed to fix the issue my 2020 tacoma started doing this yesterday. Push the switch button to shut engine off, but the radio seems to be turning back on, and the keyfob does not lock or unlock doors, already swapped the key fob batteries but still the problem lingers.
    Anyhelp???
