I'd be more confident in grinding the calipers a bit to give some more clearance than I would leaving it and hoping for the best and having just enough movement one day cornering or hitting a huge bump at speed that could be a much more *violent* method of self clearancing lol. Plenty of people have ground down calipers especially where it's a protrusion like that, I think I've seen a thread on here specifically. Obviously the proper solution is get different wheels but as others say quality spacers are another option, Bora makes pretty small ones. A few min with an angle grinder is free but its your truck/choices so as always take opinions at your own risk haha

If the wheel is mounted to the hub....and the hub is stationary on the rotor. The caliper needs to be stationary and be between the rotor for the pads to bite. If all of these components are fastened down correctly and doesn't wobble.... it moves and pivots as one unit. This isnt the same as rubbing at full lock, or in reverse, or CMC, or full stuff, etc. Apples to oranges.

So someone explain to me how his wheel is going to rub that caliper, if it didnt do it at mile #0 or mile #10k.

@Tanner.b16 you're fine the way it is. If it bothers you that much, take a grinder/dremel to the caliper and shave off a millimeter. Spacers shouldnt have been mentioned for the issue that you brought up.

If you lift your truck, your camber may go more positive and yes, the wheel will tuck in a little more.

The dangers of bad spacers isn't worth making the gap bigger imo. Shave a bit off the caliper if it's an issue.

If this was my truck and i had everything torqued down accurately...i would lift the front end and spin each wheel/tire and listen for grindy/scratchy noises that is impeding the rotation.

If I hear and feel no change, i would shave off zero material.

I wouldn't be grinding shit until I see some scratches on the caliper. Honestly I'd do anything possible including spacers or different wheels to avoid having to shave metal off a caliper. Even if done carefully it would look janky and start rusting

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Don't mind me, I'm just here for the braindead advice on how to modify critical brake components in order to avoid having to solve the real problem.

Nothin' wrong with a mm trimmed off here and there much worse has been done. o_O Honestly don't see a "real problem" here either. Role with that tight gap brother.

100% I've had a set on my beater Hyundai, first time i jumped on the gas hard i was so sure the thing was coming apart. because the wheels were similarly close to the brake caliper like the OP here. lasted until a set of real spacers arrived and wouldn't you know hasn't been an issue since the upgrade.

have plenty of friends who run spacers, I don't on my Tacoma but do on my beater Hyundai, my Subaru and several other cars in the past. though i throw a little bit of blue thread locker on the studs from the truck into the spacerto keep those lug nuts on. and check them after a good drive and each tire rotation check again.

Grinding brake components? The issue is more about the wheel not the caliper it didn't move been there right along. If it's close enough to the caliper it's going to beat the wheel up first. Leave the damn thing alone.

Spacer stories are like ghost stories. People love to share them for reaction, but no one ever has any photos or anything. I've been running spacers for about 15k miles now without issue. As long as they are hub centric and made by a reputable manufacturer (like Spidertrax or Bora) and are installed correctly, you are not likely to have any issues.

The right fix was the first suggestion - change the wheels and get a set with proper offset.

I bought a new Tacoma in 96'. Put some aftermarket wheels/tires on it. Wheels rubbed the calipers. I ground one side,no problem. Ground the other, whoops! fluid leak. Mind you,the Tacoma was pretty much brand new,so "used" parts were scarce. I sourced a yard out of California with the caliper I needed. After that, bought some thin parts store spacers and extended lug nuts, and had no issues.
