And that's the key... Only reason to buy salvage is you can't afford new.

Its a little hard to believe. Doesnt that affect the willingness of the insurance to insure the car and their perceived value of it?

Well for one thing any vehicle with a salvage title isn't worth a hell of a lot when it comes time to sell it.

Maybe it has to do with the type Porsche, Viper etc. Camry might lose alot more of its value vs those

I've never delt with this, but just guessing it might be harder to sell and even harder to trade in if needed.

yes and yes,,,, also nearly impossible to get a loan,,, further reducing your amount of potential buyers, further reducing your sell price.

The reason that titles get brands is that insurance say it is in their best interest to sell the vehicle rather than repair. Body shops charge high enough rates and hidden damage comes up so with high enough salvage values on salvaged trucks some trucks get sent to auctions like copart quite soon by insurance. Also you can buy insurance coverage that automatically gets you another vehicle in the event your vehicle is involved in a collision.

I currently have a Nissan Titan XD that has a rebuilt title and its been a good truck but it had mechanical damage not body damage so that makes some difference.

I say inspect carefully and you can save some money, but there are risks also.
