Hi all, about eyeballs deep in a build. I started with a tdi engine from a 2005 Passat. If you didn’t know, this is the only tdi that was longitudinal mount and it’s a 2.0l vs 19.l. I rebuilt the engine from a bare block all the way back.

I wanted to do a 1 ton axle build most likely with a Toyota truck or maybe a ranger.

I found a 1999 Tacoma with the v6 for $2800. Sold the engine for $800 (had one stuck spark plug!). The bed was decent and sold that for $300.

I looked at Sky’s and some other kits for SAS and settled on the WFO coil over with super duty axles. There are a lot of super duty work trucks where I live (logging).

There was a listing for a non running f250 actually about 2km from my house for $2000. I asked the guy how much for the axles. He said $1000 but you have to take the whole truck! So I have the donor truck listed for parting out. It’s on jackstands on my flat deck trailer, so when I am tired of parting out it will go straight to the recyclers.

I built a marlin crawler box with a gear driven tcase I found on marketplace for $130. The marlin parts were more than I expected because I was missing on piece around $2300 cad.

I ordered my beadlocks last night and planning on 40” tires, my god wheels and tires are spendy! When you see $1000 per tire at some places $hit has gotten real times 5!!!!

I have been powder coating as a newb, it’s pretty cool! I did the whole transmission, intake on engine, tacobox and probably many more!

Very sweet, I grew up on Haida Gwaii, so was driving through PG often. Have good friends who live there. I don't know a lot about the wheeling scene up there though. I live in the lower mainland now.

If you haven't picked up and adapter yet, North West Fab / TD Conversions is an awesome BC based company. I am using their kit for my 05 BHW taco.
