I've always had good luck with Goo Gone on other vehicles, but the paint on my brand new Tacoma looks to be of extremely low quality. I don't want to make it look even worse. I would like to attack this problem when the weather gets back up to around 35F, and I have a heat gun.

Proceed or look for an alternative?

My old goop remover goto was mineral spirits, however my latest MS bottle has a high acetone content. I can smell it. For painted surfaces. Try turpentine or denatured alcohol. Not super excited about the heat gun idea.

3M General Adhesive Remover. It’s in a spray can and works great at removing adhesive, road tar and sap. Just spray it on let it sit for about 15 to 30 seconds then use a microfiber to wipe off. It may require a few applications depending on your situation. Learned about it years ago from some professional detailers on the Detailing World forum. Just don’t get it on textured black plastics or headlight lenses as it can cause fading.
