I moved up to a similar lift, with 285/70R17's on some lightweight Method Wheels and I'm getting 17 MPG's cruising the highway at 70, and 14-15 MPGs around town. I do drive in ECS PWR all the time. I have stock gears, and plan to swap them out for 5.29s here next winter.

When you move to a larger tire size, the gears in the axles become, too high for the engine and transmission to operate properly. For example, if I was to stick with this tire size, I would only go to 4.56, or 4.88 gears, but I plan to move up to 35's, or at least 285/75R17's in the next year or two and possibly even up to 37's. It's fairly simple math, but the engine has to work harder, with a higher stock gearing, and larger tires, and will lose fuel economy, because it's working harder, to go the same speed. When you lower the gears, the engine will have to work as it's intended, and it will help the engine and transmission last longer.

Pretty basic stuff, but I dig it ... 285/70/17 KO2s, sema bronze wheels, 6112/5160. Had a CMC done by the one and only @GHOST SHIP, which turned out great (if you're anywhere near Burbank and need work done, he's the guy!). Super happy with it ... rides great, no rubbing yet (even with mudflaps).

Looks great. I have the same 4Runner sema wheels, 285/70s and no cmc or rubbing anywhere. I still have the oem mudguards. So why a cmc? Did you really need one?

Thanks! Might not of needed it, but I was getting the lift done by a local guy on here that does super clean CMCs, so figured why not. I was rubbing on the front mudflaps without the lift, but it's all clear now.

At the time I was just running 2" spacers, but I've since swapped out the struts for Bilstein 6112's and 5160's
