    Hey guys,

I was wondering if joystick mirrors that usually come on the 01-04 trucks would fit on a 95-97 tacoma. I was doing some research and the install seems to be a simple bolt on but a few issues are encountered with this idea. For starters, the joystick mirrors use a different interior trim piece that would have to be sourced separately. Secondly, a hole would have to be cut in the door (at least in my case) to make way for the joystick. lastly, the joystick itself would also have to be sourced separately in some cases. Even with these issues the install still doesn't seem too bad, but with some mirrors costing 50 bucks each and trim pieces and joysticks becoming hard to source, the whole idea doesn't seem so plausible. If anyone else had thought of this please reply and if someone has done this already then let me know.

I haven't tried this particular swap myself, but I'm 90% sure that all 1st gen Tacoma mirrors are interchangeable at least as far as the bolt pattern is concerned. People also commonly swap Third-gen 4runner mirrors, which bolt up fine to the outside (4runner interior trim pieces aren't compatible--they look the same but have a slightly different mounting interface).

I'm surprised you need to drill the door out, even--I thought all the doors were interchangeable as well.

Coincidentally, there's someone selling a set of the joystick mirrors on my local Craigslist.

I did that swap on my 95. Straight bolt on. No drilling or cutting. Jump on the mirrors @6P4 posted.
