I'm really sorry man. This sounds like a nightmare. I was running my truck with stupid mods for half a decade with no money in the bank (or even credit) to pay for it if it blew up. I can daily my car in the summer but winter - probably would have been taking the bus to work while I contacted loan sharks to get enough money for a short block or heads.

Sounds like you're one of the unlucky ones. I hate to hear that this happended. Like I say, probably my worst nightmare right after losing someone important to me - which happened to you, too. Much love to you bro.

 

I already pre-spent my bonus that I had allocated for fun stuff. My girlfriend said I need to put half of it away for a house downpayment or RESP or something. I might just not do it and then tell her I did.

 

I have already pre-spent my salary increase from resident to attending. Mostly on cars stuffs but also a bit on making a barn dominium.

 

I pre-spent my kid's college tuition and hoping to backfill it when modding is all said and done.

shop just called. kelford cams are destroyed......
know next week if the engine is salvageable......
cams were NOT INSTALLED WITH CORRECT TIMING...

Your engine will be fine brother. It'll just be the cams that need replacing.

Can you get pictures? I would think the valves would be toast if the timing was off.

I don't know why you would think the valves would be all chewed up just because the timing is off. The engine would run like trash for sure (like it was) but this wouldn't be a situation similar to a timing belt snapping and bending valves or boogering them up.
