I have a 2019 TRD ORDC 4x4 with a 1.5” Lift via 5100s. When driving at a slow speed, 35mph ish, i hear a slow and faint pulsating grown coming from the truck. At this speed its to slow between pulses to be from CV axle, tires or diff. It’s completely gone as I speed up 35 ish. I also have the ECGS bushing installed on the driver side as ai know that will be the first question.

its too faint to try and record and consistently pulses every second to second and a half with a mild vibration I can feel throughout the truck. It does change with speed but disappears when reaching 40 plus.

Anyone have the same issue or have a suggestion on addressing? It doesn’t bother me that much but thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone knows what it is. Maybe its a Tacoma trait.

Thats going to be hard to troubleshoot on here. I would just play my radio to cover the groan.

Id expect if from a modified truck that a grown up drives.

Are you getting harmonics from the tires? Balance? Turn up radio?

What tires you running? My Coopers probably have 40k miles on them, and I had a bad rubbing sound go away after my most recent rotation..even though there was no rubbing. I only say that to say that tires can produce some misleading, mechanical type sounds too. ymmv, of course.

Running Wildpeak AT3’s. Maybe it could be harmonics. It’s not to bad, only hear it when cruising slow in silence. Just strange that the pulse of it doesn’t match the rotational speed of anything. If was a a tire at 30 mph, would be much faster. The pulse rate is about 1.5 to 2 seconds which is slow. Transfer case chain vibration? Who knows.

Sounds like the lower control arms are whistling maybe. Ocarina effect, you probably need to plug the holes in the lower control arms. Toyota had a work order number, what ever it's called, solution. I just went down to Ace Hardware and got some plastic plugs and they fit and stayed right in there.

Mine makes a similar noise as well, about 33 mph for me. Same noise is present in 4wd, etc. Just did the bushing, did not clear it up. Went through the whole front end about a week before we did the bushing thinking maybe it was a wheel bearing, I'm chalking the noise up to <50% MTs becoming louder as they age.

There is a couple of treads on here about this. The size of plugs and what holes to plug is mentioned. They look like 3/4" or so but I can't remember. A little google search should get you to the information.

Mine is a 2019 which has those holes on the LCA plugged from the factory. Double checked and their still in.

It’s definitely bizarre. Can’t figure out what would have a slow pulsating mild grown at that speed. CV, tire, diff would all be rotating faster at 30mph. I do feel a mild vibration throughout the truck when it does it.

It's great to know that Toyota added the LCA plugs. I don't think the holes create the whistling noise until the truck is raised. I didn't notice the noise when I removed the front bumper lower valance, however, after I raised the truck the howling noise, between 30-40 mph, started.

Are you front tires wearing evenly? Cupped out tires can create low speed vibes.

Have you tried rotating them to see if it goes away?

Pretty normal. My buddies 2019 trd dc did the same, even after he put it back to the stock height. Dealer told him its just a normal thing those trucks do.
