Real woodworkers make their own work benches, eventually


Here's one I made almost 40 years ago for small projects.
Note the bench screw and sliding block with holes for bench dogs, and dog holes running the full length of the bench.
The sliding block has 2 dog holes.
The bench dogs have spring steel bulges on the sides to hold them in place at whatever height you need.
They can be pushed down flush with the bench or pushed up from below to firmly clamp a work piece by turning the bench screw.
They fit tightly in their holes.

I made the bench from southern yellow pine (which is surprisingly hard for a softwood).
Topped with tempered hardboard for a smooth work surface.
Tool pocket runs the length of the bench (full ATM and hard to make out)
Smallish vise with hardwood jaws at the other end and shelf underneath.

I just now took these pics and didn't clean it up first.

Other than the bent frame……..and the seat will only go in the very front notch.

 

Never mind! Was it from her husband backing into it that one time?

It is not wrecked! I may have accidentally backed up a time or 2 into vehicle’s that were hiding in my driveway

Yes…. That’s what happened, he parked in a place that was going to cause me to back up into him.

@Squirt is used to wrecking vehicles. I'm sure he'll be fine with yours. Besides, wasn't it your husbands fault for parking flat bed trailers in the driveway? It should have been down the street so you could safely maneuver your way out with no interference.... I think that was the story?
