So, I am having a MRI on my knee on Monday so they can figure out how they want to do surgery. I got a call from the intake office from the hospital to get my info. She asked the usual stuff, contact info, NOK, insurance/VA. Then she started asking stuff like religious preference, if I needed assistance to get a will done, etc. Then, I shit you not, she asked of I wanted a priest present when I go in.
WAIT ONE FREAKIN MINUTE. WTF do you have me listed as going in for? I don't need a priest or will for a freaking MRI, this isn't an experimental heart transplant, they are getting pictures of my knee to figure out where and what to cut.
After that, she tells me that I need to check in at the hospital 10 minutes away from the imaging center that I am scheduled to get the MRI at.

It is like their system routes information through some guy in China who only speaks Cantonese.

When I do go in for surgery, and they ask about religion and having a priest there, I will say I want a Haitian Voodoo priest.

Wife just had a knee replacement surgery and the surgeon literally signed the knee he was working on with a marker. People like to say everything happens for a reason. In this case I think the reason is a bunch of the wrong knee were replaced.

 

Yeah, they marked up and signed my arm both times they worked on it and spent about 10 minutes with 3 people marking my back both times they worked on it.

Is for the religious preference, I already told my mother (listed as NOK) that I was going to do tell them I want a Hatian Voodoo priest and to verify that if the event arises.

The other procedure I had where they knocked me out was for kidney stones. I considered drawing an arrow, but figured that may cause some....... concerns, as they only go in through one hole.... That one didn't get any signatures from the nurses or the rather attractive female doc. Unfortunately.
