Baja Designs. & it’s the one that is Tacoma specific, it also has some orange back lighting. The price was.. Priceless if it avoids me hitting one Moose.

I have 235/80r16 on my TRD pro. They are phenomenal! Off road grip, especially in snow is great.

Sorry I had 265s but the 285 bug was getting to me. Happy to report no rubbing or trimming on the 285s and still using the factory mud guards. Did the speedometer calibrator with rough country and upgraded the tune to the new kdmax pro 9. I saw no power loss and still getting over 18 mpgs around town.IMG_20221222_140310731.jpg

You should run/build what YOU want and think looks good. Sure mpg may take a hit depending how you drive. Im on 285/70-17 with a tune and averaging 17-19 mpg.

Just setting the record straight here as someone who has run 285s. Physics is physics.

    • The larger the tire, the less rwhp you make.
    • 285s will rub somewhere on every otherwise stock Tacoma. Many people’s feedback about no rub without UCAs and CMC is based on the street driving and light offroad. Flex out each side on the front 100% and turn the wheel full lock left and right. Guaranteed to hit somewhere. This may not matter if you don’t go heavily offroad, but if you do, be aware.
    • 285s will increase weight, rolling resistance and reduce mpg, even when correcting for the rotation count differences. Again, physics.
    • 285s will cause ball joints and alignment/steering components to wear faster.

I settled with 265s, but will go up to 285 pretty soon, my tires probably only have 15k left on them.

Honestly, fitting 285s isn't going to be too bad. Zero offset wheels and either SPC UCAs (which you'll really need with a lift anyways), or have a CMC done ($200 max). Then maybe some minor plastic trimming if anything.

315s seem to open a whole other can of worms in terms of trimming, and you'll also need to regear ($$$).

FWIW I needed 0 offset, UCAs, CMC and some plastic trimming in front to fit 285s with truly no rub at any articulation and wheel turn combo.

    Love my 255s!

My next set will be 33x10 as well. True 33” tire without any compromises.
