    I upgraded my S&W M&P 2.0 with Apex’s duty trigger upgrade package.

kit comes with a new machined extractor, machined sear, metal curved trigger and new trigger spring and sear spring as well as a new safety plunger thing.

directions are non existent and what few I could find are inaccurate. I wouldn’t try this unless you are handy and have the time to figure it out. Biggest obstacle is that the directions to replace the safety plunger instruct you to use a punch to punch out the rear sight on the M&P 2.0 slide in order to access it, however that must be for non 2.0 models because it is not where that is located and I almost stripped the Allen screw holding the rear sight in place before I figured out the actual location (it’s an oval shaped cover held by a screw and is located where the optic mount sits).

after I installed everything and confirmed function the gun shoots very nice. I’ve noted an immediate improvement in my shooting. The whole package was expensive, was it worth it? I didn’t see many options for a trigger upgrade for this gun so it’s hard to compare. I bought it on sale which made it easier but it’s still a lot of money for tiny pieces.

New trigger has about 1/2” of consistent smooth take up before reaching the wall which breaks crisp and sharp. No gritty, no grinding. Reset is about 1/8” and very subtle with almost no tactile feel of reset. The overall trigger travel distance is still the same as factory and surprisingly breaks almost to the very end of the trigger guard area.

I like that the kit came with machined parts, I always like to upgrade from MIM in all my guns. You’ll need a punch to do this but that’s the only thing I bought. I ended up ruining the factory roll pin while removing the factory extractor but was able to get a replacement at the hardware store.

If you are looking at getting more performance out of your 2.0 I’d recommend considering this kit.

Put an Apex in my S&W Shield 1.0 and have been very pleased! The accuracy was really good to begin with and the trigger upgrade made it even betterer! I also went with a Big Dot sight and kinda wish I had stuck with the factory sights...

I installed one in my SD9. It transformed that gun from intolerable to somewhat tolerable.

    They're good kits.

I did the same thing with my Shield 1.0. I love it. Made shooting it so much nicer in every way.

I've always wondered about the SD9, not a popular choice for good reason it sounds?

Honestly I'm still a little sore that I was waffling between the M&P and the SD9 for a fun range pistol, and the counter guy heavily recommended the SD9. Come to find out that it has one of the worst trigger pulls ever designed; simultaneously both heavy and spongy.

Oof, sorry there, hope you're not out too much money on it. Still reasonably priced to get your M&P 2.0 and so many more options for great pistols these days. If I were to do it all over again I might go with a Walther, I look at pistols now differently in terms of what do you get for the money vs the out the door price. With all the things Ive upgraded on my M&P it's not crazy to look at buying a pistol for around $1k because that's what I put into it.

When I was a child I learned to play the violin and I had an awful starter. I learned to make that scrappy thing sing so when I finally was able to graduate to a nicer violin I had learned to make my pig look pretty and could do amazing things with the upgrade. Maybe there's a parallel story with you?

Definitely. And I'm all about crappy.

My absolute all time favorite plinker? Hi-Point 9mm carbine. :anonymous::anonymous:

It shoots straight and reliably, has good hand feel, and it's just the right balance between making a good pop that's neither loud nor is it the disappointing "pff" of a rimfire. It's just too bad that HiPoint has a reputation of being bizarre Walmart shit.

Dress it up nicely however, and nobody knows that I'm walking around with a 200 buck rifle. :D

But yeah, the SD9 is alright after the trigger upgrade. Not great. I can still make a fun day at the range, but someday I need to get a better, funner pistol. I've been actually eyeballing the 1911 family lately.
