@4xThad is correct, you can run it for a little while, you just want to do it soon. Basically, the longer you run it, the more damage to the cage that holds the needle bearings and the more likelihood that they will work themselves into the diff. Some people run them a long time without having it do that but just to be on the safe side order it and do it when you can, sooner than later. I wouldn't necessarily just stop driving it or anything.

Precisely. It took me 13 days after my lift, to find the time, have the parts and tools show up to to swap to the bushing. FWIW, I had 0 play in my drivers side CV but it was making hella noise and I could feel the vibration in the floorboards

    Original had 50k miles.

ECGS bushing has like... 1k miles now? Working great.

I must be deaf, I have had a TRD lift and 285s on my 2022 since it had like 600 miles on it, at 7k and haven’t heard or felt any weird vibrations. I’ll probably check the CVS and what not this weekend…

It is a hit and miss issue, some get it fast and some don't ever (yet) haha. You might not have a problem for a while. Just one of those things.

Welcome to the Tacoma world! Not many weak links in them but this bearing is one. This should help...

@HawkmanYota thanks for posting that link. That is one way. There are some tricks that speed it up, don't have to remove the axle from the hub. Here is my write up I posted on 4Runners:

    The way I do these:
Pull fill plug first to make sure you can get gear oil back in before starting
    Pull ABS sensor wire
Pull the brake hose mount bolt
Pull caliper and wire everything to the side out of the way
    Pull lower ball joint bolts
    Pull tie rod end
    Pull bump stop
Tap or pull the axle out and swing hub and disk assembly out and forward and slide the axle through the frame-lower control arm gap that you gained by removing the bump stop
Then pull axle seal and needle bearing
    Install everything back opposite order.

About 2 hours if you move efficiently and don't get into the beers to soon haha

Yes, same diff. Same angles, almost identical suspension. Very subtle differences in sway bar, ball joint offset and tie rod ends I believe. FJ as well if I'm not mistaken

Well, that being said...Does anyone know if there is a shop in the Portland area that will replace the bearing?

Does anyone know where I can get a needle bearing for my taco? I just lifted my truck two inches and I’m hearing a grinding noise. Thanks

What state do you live in?

Are you sure, the noise is nothing else?

Yes, they do, while the lift is going on, or soon thereafter.
