RSi has some new Competition

Hey guys! Just came across this link yesterday. I have been actively looking and searching for a cap for months now.. Currently leaning towards the new AluCab Contour, but this looks very promising and at a competitive price point. Thoughts?

My Initial thoughts:
- No weight ratings
- Aluminum and Steel both cost the same?
- No pics of it mounted on a Tacoma (at least on their website)

 

It’s chinesium from alibaba and that company is just a Instagram reseller.

They note free worldwide shipping…probably because the proprietor of this business places an order for it to drop ship from China and is charging 4x over wholesale.

someone started a thread previously, but it didn’t get much traction. Maybe the supplier has it on a shop truck of theirs or got an influencer to represent one

Some additional food for thought: RSI makes the Tacoma Smartcaps in Fort Worth, TX - so it's not a case of the same factory making a knockoff.

 

do you know anymore about this? i know they started production in texas, but haven't actually started shipping them out of texas yet.

would you have an idea on when they're coming out? the website says evoa for 5 ft tacomas should be able to order next month in april. ive kind of been holding off really pushing to order something until then

 

I don't; I found that out when I reached out to them on FB. I believe they're making ~90/day, so I'd imagine they're shipping already? I'm supposed to take them up on their tour offer, I'll ask questions when I visit.

 

maybe theyre shipping to everyone who is on backorder and aren't taking new orders until they fill all the orders already placed?

It’s a shame that it’s a low quality Chinese kit because it actually looks much better than most other options to me aesthetically. I can’t stand the look of most typical color-matched caps. They just make the Tacoma look like a poorly designed SUV, IMO.

 

and the funny thing is people are selling them used and new all over the marketplace for 3200$ lol thinking they have gold.
