Does anyone use a battery saver when installing a new battery in your Taco? I haven’t used them in the past but I have recently read both pro and con as far as using one. They supposedly maintain the ecu codes and settings while the battery is disconnected. I haven’t had any problems in the past not using one but I’m curious what ya all think.

    2nd gen?

Im not sure about that one, but I was surprised on what my 3rd retains with battery removal. Even all the radio settings are preserved.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I've never used one when pulling the battery.

Didnt know that, I just connected my booster pac to the terminals so I would not have to reset the radio on my last battery change.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I could see the point if you need to swap batteries just before an Emissions test and all your tests are complete and Good..

Rather then having to run through the complete test cycle which seems to take forever .

Even trying to force the tests.

    FYI

I just changed my battery last Saturday and didn't use a battery saver.

After changing the battery, when starting I expected the engine to start, then stop, and restart normally, didn't happen.

Started like normal with a higher idle speed (which adjusted down) after a couple of cold starts.

Radio captured/maintained the stations --so I didn't have to reset.

The only thing I had to reset was the clock.

I use it on anything made after ’90’s to prevent unnecessary wear while the puter re-learns it’s previous adjustments. Saves me some headaches

I use mine every time I remove the battery contacts. Because of that I’m more motivated to clean the battery post more often. It’s a cable that plugs into a OBD2 port. I use my deep cycle trolling motor battery as source.
