Hey everyone, this heat shield is rattling on my exhaust and annoying the crap outta me. I bent it and it bends back to rattle again. I was gonna take it off and trim it so it wouldn’t rattle but I can’t get the nut off because everything’s in the way.

If I take this shield off will it run risk of burning my undercab?

gonna unbolt my exhaust tomorrow and see what I can do …

Mine rusted away, took it off.. and with that happening 27k miles ago we’re still motoring safely

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You must live in a warm dry area most of those heat shields are long gone on 20 year old trucks.

Mine was gone when I bought the truck.

You could have trouble if the Cat gets so restricted it starts glowing red . pretty rare but who knows

so there’s no burning carpet in your cab or any other signs of too much heat?

I took it off and trimmed the parts that were touching. The holes were also widened due to wear so I used some washers and it’s good now.
