So, according to that chart, my heater would be drawing 12.5 amp, and the battery is 200 amp hours, so would that mean it could run for 200amp hours/12.5amp=16 hours?

Nope. Multiple charts on that page for different voltages, you have to read it very closely. Already did the math for you up a few posts:

"I=P/V then we get I = 1500W/12V = 125A, which means if run continuous for an hour it would consume 125Ah (amp hours)"

If you intend to run your specific 120V heater it will draw 125A continuous at 12V. This is a bad idea to run off a 12V system. Most batteries in the 12V line won't do over 100A output so it's basically a non-starter. You'd have to step up to either a 24V or 48V system which means more complication, more stuff, different wiring, etc. Basically looking at RV stuff at that point. RV stuff is far beyond anything I care about because I don't have an RV. None of this covers other things like low temperature cutoff, charging, monitoring, and keeping LFP batteries warm above freezing which are other concerns.

You'd be better served by installing one of those Webasto diesel heaters if you want to condition the whole space. Or pay for electric sites but that limits how far offgrid you can go. Or use 12V heated blankets but that doesn't heat your whole trailer.

Hey... I had a 1989 Geo Metro. Great car offroad. When it got stuck, leave it in gear get out and lift. Took it all over the Sierra Nevada's although not the Rubicon or Fordice Res. The thing got 55mpg consistently! Okay, not on windy days, but most always. Drove it to Palm Springs from Reno one year for spring break-65mpg going and 40 coming home against the wind. Still hard to get that out of a car these days...

I guess I am just a bit feral... I sleep in the back open air with a bag and comforter (or two) year-round. Not sure about all these heated blankets and electrical hoobie doobies...

    Alrighty then!

Friday, 2/17: Castle Mound State Park

    Castle Mound Campground
    (715) 284-4103
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/xRoP2g3tkN5bU1Mk8

Worth noting, a state park sticker is needed. Not sure if day passes are available. :notsure:

Not sure what time everyone is planning on arriving? I'll probably be there midday, unless work is stupid that week. Let's hear what everyone is thinking..

Saturday: meet at camp, or breakfast. :notsure:
I know that someone had posted some possible options. Maybe it was @wi_taco ?

Here's a place that looks decent:

    Gimi' Brf Family Restaurant
    (715) 670-0533
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/nVVGEWgUAPSzMQ5PA

Or, we can eat at camp. I'm easy (just ask the ladies).

T.W.A.T run north bound. Maybe putz around on some side trails. Probably try to find camp before dark. Maybe a bonfire, sodas, storytelling and BS.

Sunday morning: coffee, BS, and play it by ear.

    Looking forward to this!

Yep I searched some quick ideas, they should be in the map that I quickly slapped together:

    https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=17OPJKQBisDq_7bFP7B9GrsUGi6pyBEU&usp=sharing

I’m good with anything for food. Gimi’brf looked pretty cool to me. Breakfast at 8am? 9am?

Won’t be arriving to camp Friday until after 8-9pm unless I get real lucky with work. I’ll try not to wake anyone unless you’re still up then I’ll come have a drink.

I’ll try and grab some treated/approved firewood along the way but the more the merrier, that stuff ain’t cheap.

Will be very interesting to see what conditions are like, I’m betting on sloppy/slushy/muddy on the dirt sections. Should be a good time!

Not planning on camping...not equipped for cold and can't count on getting off work early enough, Fridays have been a bitch for the last couple of months. Keeping an eye on this thread for the b'fast meeting place.

Excellent plan! I vote for breakfast at a local spot vs at camp. If we're going to be packing everything up from camp Saturday morning making breakfast would definitely slow us down and require packing more cooler stuff. That Gimi' brf spot looks like a good fit!

I'll be in BRF around mid-day Friday too. Camp check-in is 3pm, but I doubt we'd have trouble earlier as reservations looked pretty sparse. @Thatbassguy we can see if there is any trouble in the area that we can get into and find some local firewood. Anybody else gonna be there earlier on Friday?

    Getting excited about this!

Yeah, I missed some discussion too. And apparently you guys are all NUCKING FUTZ!!!... I turn away for one second, then it’s a freaking two night “day” trip in the middle of winter? :der:

I mean, sure I might have mumbled something about “thinking” about camping, but man alive, you guys call bluffs HARD!

I’m glad for it anyway. Can’t wait! :D:D:D

Yes, I agree. I wish it wasn't so interesting and I wish that temperature trend wasn't diving off the earth on 2/17 right now...
