I actually went to Lowe's (closest HD is 90 miles away) and bought another Honeywell thermostat unit. When I got it home, opened it up and found: is has a different connector than the existing unit so I can't just plug it into the existing unit's wall bracket; the new unit doesn't come with any sort of adapter that would allow me to plug it into the existing unit's connector; the new unit is 1/2" smaller than the existing unit, so it won't plug into the existing mount; and... the new unit doesn't come with it's own wall mounting bracket,, so I can't even just do a full replacement of the existing unit with the new one

 

Good thing fresh spuds are still ok, though

 

Just when I think I’m weird, people come along that prove I’m just fine

 

Dunno if I can handle this cold weather

 

The bracket should be the back of the thermostat. Open it up and look. You have to unscrew the wires from the terminals and connect them to the new unit.

Ok, HVAC system update. Local shop sent a Tech out, he just left. Our house has 3 zones: 1 for upstairs, two for down (Kitchen/living room, bedrooms). It is the kitchen/living room unit that is belly up. Turns out, the main breaker inside the heating unit was fried. As soon as he started unplugging wires to it so he can take back to the office to get a replacement, the whole breaker just crumbled to pieces. The house and 2 of the 3 units are 2006 vintage, the newest unit (bedrooms) was installed in 2020, so we have time on that one. We are on somewhat borrowed time on the other two units......
