Hey all! My names Lance. I currently have a TRD Off Road and am currently in the market for a newer Tacoma TRD Pro 2017 and up. I found one! I know it’s got a little something extra under it. Curious if anyone has any ideas?

    Welcome to TW!

If you are referring to the small canister with the letters "vert" showing, that is a shock absorber reservior. Holds extra fluid for additional shock dampening.

I would question whether or not that is actually a Pro however. Those are Rough Country Vertex coil overs and I can’t think of a reason why someone with the good Fox suspension would swap those subpar components in their place.

I question whether it’s a pro as well. The VIN pulls up multiple vehicles all ranging from SR5, to TRD Pro.

Looks like a drop bracket lift (big cast spindles/knuckles)

All the exterior bits align with a Pro (hood scoop, black headlight & tail light bezels, Rigid fog lights): https://www.irontrail.com/auto/used-2017-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-virginia-mn/73538456/

However, it's been modified (butchered?) with a Rough Country 4" drop-bracket lift, as evidenced by the big spindle and droop limiter on the frame.

    upload_2023-2-5_18-55-18.jpg

If you aren't familiar with drop-bracket lifts, it involves cutting the stock crossmembers from the frame and bolting in new ones to carry the front diff and lower control arms. In some states like Vermont this would fail inspection and effectively condemn the truck to off-road use only. Not sure about MN.

Forgive me im a 2nd gen but why ditch the off-road for a pro. The interior/electronics?

^Pro comes with Fox 2.0" coilovers and rear piggyback reservoir shocks... which on this example have all been swapped out with Rough Country parts.
