Tailgate interferes with rear bumper when open

    2004 Tacoma, the tailgate appears to be too low relative to the plastic filler piece on top of the rear bumper scraping the paint off the bottom edge of the tailgate when the tailgate is opened.
    Anyone seen this and or know how to solve this problem?

    You can loosen the bumper bolts and attempt to level it. There is a tiny bit of play there. That top plastic cap can also have broken tabs that secure it to the metal bumper and warp upwards.
