    Hi guys and gals,

I bought an aftermarket shift knob and boot clip for my 2019 Tacoma (automatic transmission). When trying to install it, the bottom of the knob pushes down too far when completely threaded, preventing the lever from shifting out of park. Is there a spacing nut or something similar I can use to prevent this? Thanks!IMG_0671.jpg IMG_0670.jpg

Pretty cool knob where’d you get it?

As far as the question goes can’t you just get a normal nut, thread it on where you want the knob to stop screwing down, and tighten the two together?

I assume that would work as a hack, just wondering if there's something made specifically for this.

You can steel sleeves/spacers at hardware stores. Would that work? You can even paint them black.

If my other idea has the showing instead of the boot than yeah that’s dumb.

Not being a wise guy here; but did you call the MFG? If they were a legitimate supplier, you'd think they would have all items necessary to install it properly.

Is that knob possibly for a manual transmission and being put on an automatic?

If you put any kind of block into the knob before you screw it down it won't go that far..

I'm having a hard time getting past this part. Are these threads so recessed that your leather boot looks like a leather pit? How big is this knob that it is interfering with the mechanism that's a couple inches below your center console?

I can throw in my trainwreck of an interior for reference. Note the distance between threads and shift gate. I'm really curious, what's interfering to cause blocked motion?

not sure this helps but here's mine for an MT that includes the grommet for the boot and another piece to transition to the knob. i don't recall where i purchased it from. it was either ebay, Amazon, or etsy. if needed, let me know and i will try and track the source down.

If I don't line up the leather boot right I can tighten my GettaGrip down enough to block the gates, I just back it off and make sure everything is clear before driving away..

I'll put it back on and show what I mean. The seller is from Lithuania, so contact has been ... well, you know. It was assured to be for an automatic transmission. Thought about just not threading it all the way down, but that leaves it loose when gripped.
