4.0L consuming 3 qts of oil every 5,000 miles?

    bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
    A leakdown test will tell you the condition of the valves and rings, but a quart of oil every 1,000 miles was considered normal for decades. At this point you have two real options if the issue is rings, one is to RTF, run till failure, or pull the motor and do rings and bearings, and lap the valves while it is apart.
