I'd like to add a Clutch Start Cancel button to my 99 2wd, so I can just reach in and start it on cold mornings. Theres one in a 4Runner in a junkyard near me I could get but wanted to know if the wiring harness is already there or if it was only on the 4x4s. Anyone add one or know if the connector is back there behind the dash hiding?

There likely isnt a harness, the 5 lugs are pretty dissimilar.

I’d look for instructions on how to install a remote start on a 5 speed, or just diable the clutch censor thing entirely. I think it’s just a button on the clutch pedal, could just tape it down, lol.

Simple just jump the switch on the clutch pedal .

The first thing I do with any vehicle that has a clutch safety

I just made a jumper with male spade connectors plugged it in a cable tie good to go.

Usually jumping the switch like that disables the cruise control as well though Even if the cruise still works, you have to remember to cancel it manually before grabbing a lower gear on a hill or it revs up to the limiter to remind you.

Why not? Cruise is about the only driving aid I actually consider a have to have on a DD

Millions of miles before cruise control or ABS brakes another thing that get deleted.

I could see if you always had that option.

Then for the most I avoid driving on roads where cruise control might be used .

I would most likely fall asleep.

The clutch start switch is at the bottom of the pedal travel. The clutch cruise switch is at the top of the travel.

    They aren’t related.

I wasn't aware there were 2 switches, it's just the one in my f250 and my old F150

@Jeff Lange any chance you have encountered a thread with info on how to add a clutch start cancel to an MT (2005) 5 speed that didn’t come with one?

I just threw down for a switch, same as the one in my 2016 and I can handle the wiring to recreate a latching relay but thought I’d ask in case there is a straightforward Oem harness that can be added?

There's no separate harness for the switch, it's integrated with the dash harness.

That said, you don't need to add a relay or anything, it's all taken care of in the switch itself. You just need to give it power (pin 3), ground (pin 1), and to splice it into the clutch safety switch wiring (pins 2 and 4).

Took a closer look at my stuff today. Left is the harness fragment I got with my switch. Any chance you might happen to know / recognize the other two? It’s an ‘05 MT RC PreRunner. I’m wondering if either might be the harness for an older version of the clutch start cancel switch? In which case I’d rather just buy the correct old Gen switch if I can find it.

My gut says one is for a fog light switch.

I'm going to take a gamble based on this and order 84480-04020 unless @Jeff Lange tells me I'm a bonehead and it's not the right one?

The one I got used might just be a 3rd gen specific one (looks exactly like my 3rd gen does and IIRC the plug does too, I foolishly assumed since it was a tall that it got recycled from 2nd gen days) and maybe this one with two lights is the part I desire...

84480-04020 fits 2005-2023, so it's the same. Your truck probably just doesn't have the connector for it.

Man, I hate to do this type of thing b/c you've demonstrated on a million occasions you know an incredible amount, but are you super sure on that one?

    upload_2023-2-22_16-41-23.jpg

That diagram (from the link I posted which is 2005 specific) shows 2 lights on the switch and it also has this switch in the same exact location as the black connector on my truck was, which was fitted into the switch blank. Now, given it's a pretty old truck, always the possibility someone swapped spots around at some point in the past so no real guarantees but this switch in the diagram doesn't match the one on my 3rd gen which looks like the one I bought (and the connector does as well based on my memory, could easily check.

The switch size itself definitely fits in any tall spot which _could_ potentially explain compatibility?

I’m dreaming, right? There is only one part and the diagram is misleading?

OK, just proved myself wrong and Jeff right by searching for this switch with my vehicle selected, pulls up the same exact part number. Boohoo to me.

    upload_2023-2-22_17-45-31.jpg

Ah, I think I understand the diagram now, the lower LED is for parking light illumination of the clutch start cancel text on the button. So I guess you could turn on parking lights to figure out which switch it is if you didn't already know.

Makes more sense now. I'll have to do my own custom harness. I will survive somehow.

I know you've already come to the correct conclusion, but I just wanted to say for the record that the switch in the first diagram you posted is for the accessory power. PNC 84480 is for the accessory power switch, PNC 84480A is for the clutch start cancel switch.

Thanks so much for all your time and help on this. ETA: I see it now, bottom row, center spot, missed the A, I give myself an F :)

For pin2 it's ignition or parking light or +12v constant? I'll check on my 2016 to see if it illuminates. I'm guessing ignition so it latches till ignition is off when it resets?
