Hello all. Newbie here but I'll confess to being a bit toward the geezer side of life.

Signed on because I'm starting into some replacements on this Tacoma. Seemed like a good place to come.

    - I just checked cylinder compression and all 6 fell between 210 and 220 psi. That looks pretty good and consistent but if they are supposed to be much higher please let me know.

    - At 218k miles I'm planning on replacing the timing belt, water pump, etc. I'm interested in a good place to buy quality parts.

    - The spark plug boots on the drivers side of the engine have holes burnt through them near the bottom and there is oil in those areas. No wonder it ran so awful. Planning to replace the valve cover gaskets and those 3 plug wires for sure. The three on the other side looked fine. Any reason to replace them? First time I've seen what appears to be one coil that triggers two plugs.

    - Any recommendations for a good manual?

Best regards for this new year.

    Welcome!

I’ve used Napa’s timing belt kit on my Camry, nice quality parts

Thanks for that info. I'll check them out. For some reason my local Napa seems to be kind of lost in space, not at all what I'm used to in previous areas I've lived. I look online to see what they have.

    Appreciate the help!
