Hey all, I’m new to Tacomas, but I’m an accomplished mechanic. We have a 2010 SR5 4x4 regular cab with the 2.7 and a 5-speed. It isn’t pre-wired for fog lights, but I want to add them in the stock location. I’ve already installed the lights in the bumper mounts, and I have a new OEM Toyota fog light switch and a Painless Wiring relay harness. I know the two wires for switch illumination are the green and green/white that run to the other switches, and I’ll just tap onto those to illuminate the switch. My question is: where is an easy location to tap into the parking/tail light circuit either near the switch (stock location to the left of the steering wheel) or under the hood. I need a 12v positive feed that is hot when the parking/tail lights are on. I’ll run that through the two switch terminals on the fog light switch to feed 12v positive the relay which will control the fog lights. That way, the fogs can be on with the parking lights only or with the headlights. Any advice appreciated.

I think I'd switch the ground side of the relay like the OEM is and put the power side of the control circuit to a power source of your choice (preferably one that turns off with the key), I would put a 3 amp fuse inline on the control side of the relay and a 15 amp on the load side to be safe.

If you want them to be able to be turned on with the taillights you could use a fuse tap off the TAIL Fuse.
