a guy on another forum re-discovered some old family vehicle repair receipts from a few years around 1975. 3 different bills, all motor replacements, none over $300 each out the door, fully installed. got me thinking about median income around the time.

    dug up this off twitter:
    https://twitter.com/AmyfStuart/status/1120841299437989888

    Average family income, Canada:
    1975: 50k
    2015: 70k

    Average house price, Toronto:
    1975: 60k
    2015: ~700k

    Average tuition costs, Canada:
    1975: $550
    2015: $6200

Remember these numbers next time you tell someone younger than you that it just comes down to hard work.

The average family income was 50K in 1975??

I don't know what was going on in Canada back then but a brief search came up with numbers in the 11-12K range for the US.

I’ll have to look it up, but I think the show was called EXC here. A friend has all the episodes, so I can go check…. back to our field reporter Babba Ganuj!

Funny. I paid $400 for a rusted out ‘68 Mustang. The floorboards in the back were like swiss chesse. Whenever I hit a puddle, my buds in back would get soaked!

Never knew my parents didn’t care about my financial future until I read this thread- they let me pay cash for it :D

Good morning all :hattip:. I hope everyone has solid floorboards!

As for discussions of finance for kids… here’s my take.
I started mine with a credit union. The reason being that credit unions typically start with a savings account, but will also ‘add’ a checking/debit. With a ‘board’ they are more likely to give a loan to a member based on history, than other institutions. It’s also just a tiny bit more difficult to spend credit union money, because there is little encouragement to do so.
How to help your kids? One of the simplest is to add them to one of YOUR credit cards as an additional card holder. Your choice if you physically give them the card. In that one transaction, they “inherit” that card’s credit history. Which can help them with loans, new cards, etc. Gas cards are always a good starter for anyone that has shit or no credit. You can build back up, but remember that they are predatory vendors (check the interest rates). Remember to ASK for credit increases. Mention upcoming trip or other reason to get the ceiling bumped. The more unused credit you have, the better your score.
    Just my .02₵

Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC) which was technically repourposed footage from a Japanese show called Takeshi’s Castle.
    Take it away Ghee LaDouche!

    EDIT: 5 seasons, 65 shows.
Wipeout was based on its success.

That has to be expensive ? A rush job cost was no problem?

It's not that bad I wouldn't think, don't take long to mill it out. Would take just as long on the lathe plus I'd have to drill and tap the 4 holes anyway.

    New poll.

    Big game is Sunday.

I won't be watching since we don't pay for TV and I like the Chiefs. Followed Joe Montana there back in the day.
