I have been kiteboarding for about 10 years and wanted to do some traveling down to Hatteras and Florida at the end of Aug. Wondering about any recommendations for spots and if anyone else in the TW community kiteboards as well.

    cheers, J.

So…three years later…how’d your trip to Florida go? (I kite here in SoCal.)

Well a little issue with Covid and boarders closing ended up canceling my trip three years ago. Although potential trip to Baja next year!

Are you a foiler down in SoCal? I hear the winds are light down there.

No, though plenty do foil. I’m on a twin tip running old North Rebel 5-line kites but probably transitioning to a surfboard this summer. I’ve not kited anywhere else but find the wind more than adequate. We see 15-25mph (sometimes 30+) winds during the windy season, and even this month there have been several 17+mph days, which is enough for a 11,12, or 13m depending on your board and weight.

There are guys I’ve talked to that go to Baja five or six times a year as it’s a viable extended weekend if you use a car. They say its amazing.

This was Monday at Sunset Beach. The red 12m kite is mine. Come visit sometime!

Awesome pics! I was away for work for a while, but managed to just get a bunch of session in at Nitinat Lake here on Vancouver Island, consistent winds around 19-25kts while I was there.

Ya I am trying to see if Baja will work out this winter for me, its a great spot, I haven't been down there for a while, I have heard a lot has changed.

Thanks for the invite, if you are ever up North let me know!
