I recently rescued a dog. Before I even saw it, he was described as a rottweiler. He is just under one year old

However, his personality is not a typical rottweiler.

Second, he has some off white colouring on the side of his neck. (it is not very pronounced, it almost looks like he is going a bit gray)

    Finally, he has webbed feet!

He came with no papers, and I don't really care either way, but simply out of curiosity I would like to hear your expert opinion on what kind of dog I'm dealing with here. Thanks!

So cute, awesome rescue. You could do a dna test to be sure, but personally I would not spend the money.

Looks part chihuahua anyway to me .

We are on our 5th Rotti now, we love the breed. While sitting in your favourite put your hand down and he will be there. Make sure you're the Alpha but not by beating them. Rotts do get some grey hair where their collar sits. He looks like the real thing to me.

Over 65 years of having dogs and I've had three that were outstanding. One was a Rottweiler/Golden retriever cross that looked purebred Rott. The black and tan coloration seems to be pretty dominant/common in crossed dogs when one parent is black and tan. I doubt the webbing on the feet is beyond the normal range for Rotts.

Nice looking dog. I hope you do obedience training so both of you (owner/dog) get the best out of your relationship.

The webbed feet could mean Lab somewhere in the mix, but there's no way to know without a DNA test.
Either way, looks like 100% a good boy

Thanks for the responses. Yes, Rolo already started his obedience training. I knew that rottweilers can be challenging dogs, and this one is certainly one of the most challenging dogs I have ever had. He is exhibiting some dominant traits, but he is not directly challenging me. I want to make sure that he is good with my kids, my wife and my parents.

Always had rotties. Love them. How's the training going? I have some rules that have worked well for me with mine if you're interested.

I'm always up for some rottie talk.

Training has been very good, I considered myself fairly knowledgeable in regards to training, but I worked with a professional trainer, and she made a few, small, but significant positive changes.

Rolo just needs more contact with other dogs, on a more regular basis, because right now it is still distracting to meet another canine on the street. But other than that, he is great, most importantly, we have 100% recall off - leash.
