How is this cable supposed to install inside the brake drum area. It is the short cable that is connected to the bell crank. The truck is new to me and I am inspecting the brakes and need to adjust the parking brake. I noticed there was quite a bit of slack in this short cable as it was installed (not under the bracket). If I move the cable under the bracket where it seems like it might want to be the slack is removed and it seems right?
Which way is the cable supposed to route - under the bracket (in the “channel”) or outside of the bracket.

Thanks. Of course I reinstalled everything the way I found it as done by the Toyota dealer mechanic (cable NOT under the bracket) so know I get to take wheels and drums off again and reinstall the cable the correct way (under the bracket), and then readjust everything.
Should have listened to myself on this one.
Not a big deal but surprising that Toyota mechanic did it wrong.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Not Really you need to remember most Toyota Techs seldom see Vehicles more then 5 years old.

It is really Common on older vehicles they can be clueless.

My local Toyota Service manger would give my number to those with older Toyota 4x4`s

Here’s some pics of one I did recently with a leaking axle seal.

    it’s a long story. Lol
Short answer is a “shop” replaced this guy’s axle due to an accident and pressed the tone ring and collars all down together like a sandwich. That cause the inner collar to not even touch the axle seal so it was just pushing gear oil out through the bearing into the drum then leaking out onto the tire and on the ground. Only leaked while driving.
He took it back they couldn’t figure it out so they pretty much told him he’s on his own.
